The NAB Classic Banking account offers exactly as what its name alludes to: a classic everyday bank account. Not only does it come with no monthly fees, but also comes with a full range of advantages such as a wide network of branches and ATMs to access your money from freely. Plus, it gives you the option to go for a Platinum Visa Debit Card which comes with a whole range of additional perks.

Key features

The NAB Classic account has no monthly account fees, no overdrawn fees and no direct ATM fees from any NAB ATM. Access to your account is easy with internet and phone banking, EFTPOS, and of course any NAB branch. Another great point worth noting is that with the NAB classic account you can also do your everyday banking from any Australia Post office.

At no extra cost you can have a VISA debit card with the Classic Banking account so you can shop wherever Visa is accepted (including PayWave). Purchases made with the Visa debit card are covered under Visa's 90 day purchase protection and Verified by VISA protection services should you become the victim of fraud.

The NAB Classic Banking comes with NAB Defence security promise, giving you the satisfaction of knowing your account is protected against fraud.

However, this account does have a foreign exchange commission of 3% and an overseas ATM withdrawal fee of $5, so keep that in mind when travelling.

If you do opt for the Platinum Visa Debit Card, you will have to pay a $10 monthly fee, but you'll be rewarded with a host of neat features like no foreign currency fees on international purchases and a monthly cashback offer on your contactless payments.

Who is it good for

The NAB Classic banking account is a good option for anyone looking to open an everyday bank account that has no fees and flexible access options. Or if you want to pay a small monthly fee you can also nab a few more platinum perks to spice up your everyday banking experience. Also anyone aged 8+ can apply for this account.

Any catches

As with most everyday bank accounts there is minimal interest to earn on your savings, but you could always link to a NAB iSaver and transfer cash over whenever you need it.

They are great value and customer service.

The in person experience is second to none. They are always friendly and helpful. I have had a few issues with my card, getting issued in the wrong sir name, however when I went in person they were very fast easy to respond and resolve the issue. I requested a refund for a wrong transaction, however the company that did it fixed it within 24 hours. The bank however sent me a email 6 months later applogies for the delays and saying is it fixed now. Was very poor service, and even though I had resolved the issue myself, I would of expected a faster response time. Read full review

Innovative, customer-focused banking.

I've been banking with NAB for over 10 years and can confidently say it's one of the best banking experiences I've had. Here’s why:Why I Like NAB:Customer Service Excellence: Every time I’ve needed assistance, NAB’s customer service has been prompt, professional, and genuinely helpful. Whether it's a simple inquiry or a more complex issue, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a positive outcome.Innovative Digital Banking: NAB’s mobile app and online banking platform are top-notch. The interface is user-friendly, intuitive, and packed with features that make managing finances a breeze. I particularly appreciate the instant notifications for transactions, which adds an extra layer of security and peace of mind.Comprehensive Financial Products: From savings accounts to home loans, NAB offers a wide range of products tailored to different needs. I found their home loan options particularly competitive, with flexible terms and clear, transparent communication throughout the process.Community Focus: NAB’s commitment to supporting local communities and small businesses is something I truly admire. Their various initiatives show that they are not just about profit but also about making a positive impact.Things to Consider:Interest Rates: While NAB offers competitive products, their interest rates, particularly on savings accounts, might not always be the highest in the market. It's worth shopping around if interest income is your top priority.Branch Availability: NAB has reduced the number of physical branches, focusing more on digital services. This is great for those who prefer online banking, but if you rely on in-person service, it’s something to consider.Fees: Like many banks, NAB has fees on certain accounts and transactions. While they are generally transparent about these, it's important to read the fine print and ensure you understand the fee structure to avoid any surprises.Final Thoughts:Overall, NAB has proven to be a reliable, innovative, and customer-focused bank. Whether you're looking for a simple everyday account, a home loan, or business banking, NAB is a strong contender. Their blend of modern digital tools with a focus on community and customer service makes them stand out in the crowded banking landscape. Read full review
